So controllers get more rest.........
 

Well that was an extremely quick change on behalf of the FAA. I understand that controllers are a vital part of the system and also deserve better work rules. However, if a controller falls asleep it may not be as critical as when a pilot falls asleep. But no changes, and I hate to say it but I don't think we will actually see any changes.

I agree 100% what a joke! Only diff I suspect is that the controllers did not have to fight the ATA whining about how much it would cost the system.

We should all be contacting the media outlets and raising the *** flag on this one.

There hasn't been any recent reports about pilots sleeping on the job. But suddenly, all these reports about sleeping controllers. That's the difference.

Did Canada approve some sort of program to allow pilots to sleep during shift? I think I heard something about that. Anyone? Bueller?

The harsh truth is, if they need more controllers to cover the gaps in the rest rules all they have to do is raise taxes and throw around some more cash like the govt always does.

If the airlines need more pilots, they have to raise ticket prices. I think that's the bottom line.

Maybe we need to start taking one for the team, and start falling asleep in the cockpit. Just blatantly start taking naps where we set our cell phones as alarms. Sounds silly but hey............ what are ya gonna do?

Ding! We have a winner! The government WANTS to create more jobs (ATC), while companies do not want to increase costs (more pilots). It's a win-win for those who hold the purse strings.

So, I can still show up for work at 6am, work until 2pm, come back at 11pm, and work until 7am? Oh, a manager will be pulling in overtime until 1am.

I fall asleep at 3am.

I don't disagree with you, moderator TW, it's not as good as it looks, but the fact is that non-fatal errors resulted in IMMEDIATE change on that side, while our side of the fence requires fatalities and multi-year arguments and lobbyi$ts to effect change. And even then sometimes no change on our side while fatalities continue...
