The article mentions Boeing a few times too but I never read the part (or am aware of past articles/news) that the 787 is having structural problems too.

LOL you mean like this?

Boeing again faces a manufacturing quality issue, requiring inspections and repairs of its 787 fleet.
Structural stiffeners were found to be improperly joined to the composite skin in the aft sections of the aircraft, causing parts of the aircraft's carbon fibre structure to delaminate, confirms the airframer.
Delamination prompts Boeing to inspect 787 fleet

One thing about composites is that delimitation is by far a bigger issue than cracks in aluminum L-bracket fittings...
It is amusing to me to see Boeing vs Airbus condensed down to the equally silly and emotional level of Chevy vs Ford.
The real issue is that you have traditional metal aircraft builders dabble in composites on a previously unseen scale with the associated [poor] results. Starship anyone? BTW Beech does a great job now with the Premiere.

Cheers
George

Update: More cracks found in the A380.

Qantas found the more serious ''type-two'' cracks in the wings of the two A380s it has inspected so far

Not good. They are blaming manufacturing, but I have yet to see this thing land smoothly. Every time it lands, it smacks the runway, and those wings sinewave flex. The stress placed on the structures must be incredible. That's a lot of wing and engine hanging out there.
