Just because its legal, doesn't make it safe

That's because those so called "reps" are very rarely current line controllers. I wouldn't mind attending, or participating on such groups (and I know others that would love to do it), but not only are we not asked...we're not even told this meetings are taking place, or when and where.
Well, now is your chance to reach out.
The link to the Teterboro Users Group was provided in the earlier posting. Could be used as a starting point. You will have to take the offensive and try to reach out to groups like this to let them know you want to participate and provide them with current and appropriate information. They probably only know of the so called official reps and thus have not reached out to other controllers as yourself.
Go forth brother and educate the GA folks. Gawd knows they need it! I just find it mind numbing and so inexcusable that so many GA pilots have no clue of or how to work within airspace classifications. Always been a major problem area for GA as long as I can remember. That, and understanding and working with ATC.
Keep up the great work!

Airspace gets redesigned. You should put your concerns, examples, and suggestions into some sort of 'white paper' and send it up the chain. People do listen. You just have to grab the right ear. If nothing else - if will make you feel better that you took action - whether acted on or not in the end.
As others have said, VFR is still VFR if on glideslope, especially outside or on borders of Bravo... of course would argue that the GA / 1200 pilot should be the one that sees the approach a/c though and steers well clear.
Interestingly, while I am often declined bravo transit I have yet to be declined flight following even with frequent flights in relatively busy delta under bravo area, and greatly appreciate the service, the controllers are absolutely fantastic in my area.

Register at FaaSafety.gov. You'll get notice of lots of good seminars including ATC. I just recently did one on our class B and ATC communications. I happen to be an active line controller as well as a CFI II MEI. It's true a lot of times they send staff and others who are sometimes a little removed from what is currently happening, but a lot of good info is still available. Operation rain check is another good opportunity. If you don't ever see them for the facility you are interested in, give them a call. You may be able to arrange a tour. I think these things are great. If I can educate a pilot on what I do, it makes makes my job easier.
What facility do you work at?
