Incidents such as this one is the reason the FAA has increased the scrutiny of airmen medical applications. So much for your peers.

Have airmen medical applications changed in the past five years? I now do mine online, but that is the only change I'm aware of. How have they fallen under more scrutiny?:D

The fine print regarding DUIs, convictions, etc has gotten more invasive in the last five-ish years. Find an old medical form and compare the fine print to the new one...

Yep... I got pulled over this last week going 67 in a 55.

Try 62 in a 55...they'll almost never go there.

The cop wrote me a ticket for 70.. just enough to push me up into the next fine bracket. And what can I do about it? Very little.

And as far as .27 after 8 hours of flying.... I'm not even mad, in fact.. I'm impressed!

I remember when the Shuttle America pilot got a six month stretch for blowing a .08 in Denver after a flight from Austin. I wonder what the judge is going to throw at the young man. I really hope he gets the help he needs. He definitely will have the spare time now to do so.

I'll do that, I'm going in for my 1st class this week. Thanks

So a cop perjured himself to push you into a higher bracket ??.What possible motivation would he have to do that ?

I know a person who has lost two jobs (FO) due to his drinking. Both times he was able to collect unemployment, so I'm assuming with that, they "laid him off", rather than fired him. Keeps their company looking clean, but what does that really say about them? Meanwhile, he'll just keep moving on to the next unsuspecting employer.

Good point. A cop would never commit perjury.

Feds should throw the book at him. My apologies for the statement. I really don't think there is any place for such irresponsible actions in aviation. If he should have his licensed revoked, well and good.

Sounds like there is something cheap and low-risk that you can do. Go to court and plead to 65 in a 55. They might double or triple the fine, but your auto insurance won't go up. They call this the "Good ol boy plea".
