Default Delta off runway excursion

Fortunately, no apparent injuries.

Plane leaving Reagan National veers off runway and gets stuck in mud

Great reporting. "Leaving the airport"..? As in...

It was taxiing for departure ? It was on its takeoff roll ? The plane became self aware and decided to runaway ?

The airplane was taxiing for departure and faced a long delay due to thunderstorms in the area. It was entering a "penalty box" a put a wheel off the edge of the concrete.

Plane 'veered' off of runway. Dumb media.

Not judging, just clarifying....

On taxi, misjudged a turn/strayed from centerline?

A lot different than the way it sounds.... The way everything was worded would make you think it was taking off.

Perhaps the captain was practicing his 777 turn technique.

Correct. Hiding airplanes at DCA requires some out-of-the-ordinary manuevering.

They should just pave every surface of the airport. That way nobody can ever "veer off" anything. Frickin' media idiots.
