Witness told NTSB aircraft never left the runway, hit localizer, sheared off landing gear, thru a fence, hit berm in gully. Confirm 100 % N121JM Gulf G-IVSP.

Late abort?

RIP to those lost.

Flaps set at 10 according to a preliminary report. What are normal takeoff flaps in this model?

Flaps 10 or flaps 20 would be the only acceptable flaps settings for takeoff. Using Flaps 10 will yield a slightly longer takeoff runway length requirement than flaps 20, although I would still expect that 7000' of runway would be more than enough for either flaps 10 or 20 takeoff.

7000' is plenty even up to max GW, probably even for a flaps 10 takeoff. The control lock prevents moving the throttles more than a couple of knob-widths out of idle, certainly nowhere near takeoff power. CG is hard to get out of limits on the G-IV. Unless they were carrying ridiculous weight (cargo) up front, there's no way to get out of forward limits with only 4 pax + 1 FA.

The only thing I can think of is if they had the trim all the way nose-down, or the stab didn't move when the flaps were set for takeoff, but the plane will scream at you if the stab doesn't agree with the flaps and all the PERF data goes away (V-speeds, EPR settings, etc). The autothrottles might even be inhibited.

I'm stumped on this.

Mystery to me. CVR/FDR will be interesting once we get it back

Pilot incapacitation? Captain/FO flying and the other guy didn't catch it in time?

NTSB investigators have officially confirmed the plane never left the ground and that it reached a maximum speed of 165 knots, which is the equivalent about 190 mph.

Gulf Stream drivers

Just heard about the tragic G4 crash in Bedford. Just awful, awful.

Any input as to what could possibly have caused a 162kt runway overrun/abort?

God rest their souls. :(

Media has reported that there was discussion on the CVR between the pilots about "control feel" post-V1 and pre-reject.
