They have no idea where the plane came from, N-number, or even what type the plane was, let alone any identification of the pilot/pax onboard.

I can't wait for the news outlets wondering how a plane can crash and no one knows who it was or what it was. My wife already asked me, and I reminded her that it's really not that uncommon to go VFR on a nice day, not having to talk to anyone, etc.... Hopefully some backwoods old timer doesn't get interviewed for the follow up story.

Fair point and I agree, but then there is this one

Guy crosses an international border and continues halfway across the country in that direction before crashing on the property of a 24/7 manned Class C airport with terminal radar. Nobody knows a thing about it. Still isn't discovered until, many hours later, a taxiing aircraft brings it to the attention of ATC. Really makes you scratch your head. And to think some guys get bent out of shape about not getting a wx deviation clearance to avoid a build up by .1 nm.....
