I frequently have food and drink "given" to me by pax. Admittedly, it's a couple of thousand Lollards worth of catering that was untouched and, even, unopened. Wine? Well, it has to be opened, I guess. But, nothing makes a long flight end better than sips of Dom P champers with the crew!

I eat everything.

Seems I clearly recall UAL's FOM specifically forbidding flight crew members from ingesting food from passengers back around late sixties/early seventies.
(Then again, I recall munching on some cookies presented to the cockpit crew by "Dear Abby" immediately prior to that time, too.) LOL |
I once accepted and ate two cookies from a girl scout who was traveling with her parents and I never got sick. The DTW Fuddruckers chicken sandwich on the other hand...

When I jumpseat offline, I always grab a bag of Reese's from the airport newsstand for the F/As. Its a gesture that is generally well received.
As a pilot, should you indulge? I'll leave that up to your personal judgment. But, as Mike said, there's so much B.S. in the average airline FOM it waters the eyes. |
As of today, hugs, kisses, or handshakes from passengers are a bad idea too.

Sheesh. Stranger Danger everybody. What the hell is wrong with you? Policies for when or what to eat? I'm at a loss for words with how pathetic people are in the US these days.
