The guy talking during the video certainly sounds like an idiot.

"He's gonna crash."

The pilot of the Aerostar is about one step removed.

That old saying about better to be lucky than good.

That guy just used up a whole lot of his lucky points.

A dumb move to say the least but, the skillage or luck involved in flying it off the deck back to a landing is impressive.

There's nothing impressive about it at all.

The dumb move wasn't landing gear up.

The dumb move was attempting to take off again.

The idiotic move was actually doing it.

What he said. Blind Luck. No way the guy had skillz...anyone with enough experience to acquire skillz would never have gone around after the props hit...

Bob Hoover did it once in his Mustang, at Reno!

Took about 4" off his props, but he pulled up, put the gear down, and landed. All part of the show!

Couldn't disagree more. Call it what you will, it still takes a little skill and luck to belly in an airplane and then fly it off the deck while realizing that you just royally f'ed up.

His only luck is that he didn't lose an engine, or both off the end. Completely idiotic.

Yep, esp. given how he also retracted his flaps as if it were a normal go-around. Very lucky indeed.

Fortunately, the cost of new seat covers, underwear, and pants is minor to the double engine overhaul.
