How could a combination of arrivals into DIA, ATC, on board radar, eyeballs etc lead to such a thing? I mean we've all been painted into a corner with wx once or twice but...dang....

I heard they were in route, not an arrival. DEN was the divert.

Doesn't look like the forward visibility would have been good for that landing. Unless there's more forward visibility out the side windows than it appears.

I was EWR to LAX about that time today....long line of storms from Salina stretching at least 100 miles to the southwest. There was a second line to the SW of that one; similar. We were estimating tops 55-60k.

Easy to go around to the north, but would have been difficult if your flight needed to go where this line was.

Didn't know about the incident. But the weather was very angry in the plains this afternoon.

It was flying BOS-SLC. The radar that we have on the 320 is the worst at DL... I can promise you that played a factor.

Glad the engines stayed lit. Guess 20 miles from storms means 20 miles. They might have gotten this from an overhang that was spitting hail. Doubt they actually flew through a CB. Creepy
