That.....is a very high airport elevation. I wouldn't be surprised to see hypoxia play a role in this.

Whageezus!! I just looked it up: 14,042 feet field elevation!

Perhaps more than hypoxia would be reduced aircraft performance.

Consider: it was the horizontal stab that hit the lights! That thing was VERY nose high.

14K, wow. I didn't know they built airports that high, or that airliners were rated to TO/land above 10K.
