Some guys got it right out of ground school. I had only had to spend one month in EWR before I got IAH. I am on the 73 and I know it takes a little longer in the 756. There is another vacancy bid in Aug so we will know more then.

And no, I don't live in EWR. But the cummute to IAH is 10 times easier, might be this guys reasoning as well.

Relax, make fun of Texas and Texans is a national pastime. I'm EWR based; and it is the better base for many reasons (seniority, crews and flying done there). I don't know anyone who actually lives in EWR or near it for that matter.

In my class of 12 people all were intially assigned 737 EWR... By the end of training 2 people figured out base trades and got them selves down to IAH.
In previous classes there have been people holding IAH on the first day, on the 737. The 757 is rather senior in IAH so if you get that it may take some time to get out of EWR and down to IAH.
Guam is actaully senior right now, when CAL started hiring they sent a bunch of people out there. The deal was pretty sweet 2nd year pay off the bat with a living expense allowance as well, if you stay out there for 18months, they will also pay to move you out there and back after 3 years. A lot of people took the deal and are staying out there.
