Could ‘delta plus’ kill the delta variant? (msn.com)

Guess Echo variant doesn't spin as well.

Since the several variants in question are actually lineal descendants of Delta 1.0, "delta plus" is a reasonable nomenclature.

Echo (epsilon in the Greek) would be a sibling/cousin, not a child of Delta 1.0.

As recent as last month Honolulu asks inbound crew for vax status & card. No card, you’re flagged as hotel quarantine and supposedly they even call the hotel to tell them.
no idea if the quarantine police come looking for you or not.

mutagenesis is a bitsh ain’t it.
the good thing is they almost invariably become less lethal as they mutate. They become easier to spread and sometimes jump species, but the lethality generally weakens (with notable rare exceptions)

I'm sitting in Honolulu right now. I'm unvaxxed, and didn't get asked to quarantine or anything. Just filled out the online form, got a QR code, and hopped on the van to the hotel. They must think freight dawgs don't carry disease..

Yeah, since humans will take deliberate action to avoid dangerous bugs, the evolutionary path to success in humans is more contagious but less severe.

Also applies to animals to a lesser degree because if the bug kills off the host it's screwed.

Yeah that mutawba virus in 1994 mutated into an airborne version. If they hadn’t found the host monkey to synthesize his antibodies they would’ve had to wipe out that entire town in Oregon.
