Quote: I'm not a fan. As for everything else it sounds like unless there is a really compelling reason to change it will be the AA way. They said they learned from the US/AW that it is easier to get the smaller group changed. I hope they just keep the AA uniform, wings etc.
I, on the other hand, hope we keep the US uniform. I vastly prefer the black to the navy blue. Wings, I could care less about. I'd love to see them dump the "new AA" paint scheme in favor of something less hideous, but I doubt they will. In which case, I can't see it from the flight deck anyhow.

I would count on either US uniforms (likely, for pilots) or something all-new, since AA just hired people to design new uniforms. Like everything else, though, subject to change.

Quote: Most of the new airplanes AA ordered are composite. You can't polish plastic.
Really? I didn't know 42 out of 500+ meant most! The only airplane that AA will fly with that the fuselage that is composite as of right now is the 787, Airbuses fuselages are not composite. They use a lot of composites true out the airplane but the fuselage is metal. Most people think that Airbus is composite but they are not. The 350 that US Airways has on order will be similar in design to the 787 with regards to the composite fuselage.

ToHo and Doggy both said today that the AA paint scheme is here to stay and this is what the company will be branded under, what they do down the road is a different story.

American has said they will be redesigning the uniforms as part of the new branding movement. The rumor is grey or charcoal.

Gray/charcoal would be awesome cause it's different. Bring back the pan am uniforms and the white hats. Those guys were pimps.

For those who liked the old AA paint + aluminum... the problem I saw was that it looked brilliant when it was fresh and polished, looked like steamed dog turd after a few months on the line. Keeping aluminum shiny is a non-stop thing, and AA did not have the time and $$ to make it work properly.

Get within 30 feet of an older 737 or MD-80, and you can see the dinginess in the aluminum.

Parked next to some of the old Continentals/United down in the Caribbean, AA's livery looked scruffy. The UAL bird had brilliantly polished engine nacelles, while ours looked sand-blasted.
