I am confused. By what numbers or financial actuarial numbers does the NWA MEC present in its letter that gives support to their accusations that this merger will be detremental to the NWA pilots? I mean the cats out of the bag so since all types of accusations of one sided dealings with Delta management, hanging out the NWA pilots to dry, and all this other stuff that everyone else is talking about is all over this board and throughout crewrooms across America; then why not back it up with factual data? The reason why is they can't. If they had the numbers to counter the Delta information that letter would have been the most appropriate avenue to dispense with the pleasantries and really say "fight on".

All I saw in that letter was an emotional response that could be characterized as the type of a response I would see from a 7th grader for not getting an "A" on their school project.

Show the evidence or sit down and shut up NWA MEC.

Now that I am through venting I shall retire to my hermit hole.
Good luck to all.
Quote: Then why on earth didn't it include the NWA guys. Unity indeed
Are you that dense? When CALPA modifies their contract, say scope clause, please make sure you call AWA and include them too. DALPA modified THEIR contract. In exchange, they asked for something in return. How difficult is it to understand?

When the NWA and DAL are merged, then their will be "joint" contract negotiated.
Quote: Delta MEC should feel obligated to work with the NWA MEC and support their actions. If they don't then the place could end up like US Airways. Who wants that work environment? They are of the same union so it's time to show some unity.
WHAT!!!!!! No MEC is "obligated" to work with another MEC or support their actions. Especially if it is leading to a dead end.

The deal would happen with or without. So, why not set the contract floor at a more favorable position for "joint" contract negotiations. By the way, NWALPA can join the process now and a new contract could be negotiated.

There will have to be a single contract to move forward for the company to function efficiently. Look to AAA/AWA at what can happen to synergies without a single contract.

NWA still has their contract, so what have they lost?
Quote: Why not CAL has already sold their new-hires down the river by throwing first year pay at a measly 30K with no benefits for six months. One thing I will agree with is that if a CAL/UAL merger occurs it will definitely go a lot smoother. The senior CAL guys will look out for themselves while their junior guys are left to suffer.

Based on their history and lack of unity, I'd agree. If that happens, you'll probably see 1,600 CAL new-hires siding with UAL. Hope these guys show some back-bone.....finally.
Quote: Gentlemen... there you have it. 757driver's mind is made up and no amount of logic will change it. He has become emotional about a business decision, and will not come off that stance. My advice to anyone in this guy's airline would be this: If he runs for any MEC/LEC position, vote for the other guy. With his lack of creativity and ability to think outside the box, your LEC/MEc would be doomed to years and years of strife. Oh, and driver... don't bother responding.. I have a quick scroll finger, and I'm done reading your tripe. I wish you well in your self induced misery.
I stopped responding to his posts and recommend every DAL pilot ignore this guy - all he does is agitate and try to stir discontent.

Boo-hoo. Funny how the only guys that agree with you are fellow Deltoids.

You should read the CAL board, they can't believe the nonsense your MEC has pulled off from a solitary contract to picketing your brothers in arms.

I guess it truly is all about me over there.

I have alot of good friends that are Delta, but I vividly remember the Eastern strike and all those striking ALPA pilots while Delta made money by the truckload in Atlanta. Eastern fought the good fight (for everyone's benefit) but fell on their spear and gave Atlanta up.

This IS NOT flamebait just a reminder of how MEC's historically operate.

Yea...and I have not seen a d*mn thing that J. Pr8ter has done for me our my fellow pilots in the "Taking it Back" Campaign.

If Pr8ter is an indication of what you have to offer from the rank and file from the "Big and Bad" Continental then you can keep it. I am much better off with no promise of hope than I am a false sense of hope for prosperity that the "New Continental" Pilots preach about.

Hey, I got one for ya...why don't you push for your pilots to be considered employees with benefits from day one instead of that b.s. six month waiting period to be a real employee and then come back to us "Deltoids" and start trying to sling poo. Until then just sit down and shut up....You've been served amateur.

I'm not at DAL or NWA. Just a bored trash hauler in China. From what I have read and heard, the NWA MEC choice of arbitration over negotiation was a the only "sellout." They abrigated their responsibility to their members by not negotiating an equitable agreement with the DAL MEC on SLI. Its a negotiation, no one is going to get everything they want. Arbitration is not the answer or solution. Stating that they will aggresively block the merger is like standing in the path of a freight train, and esentially marginalizes the MEC's value in any fruther negotiation. Seems the NWA MEC are the ones selling out their own.

Just my observation. No dog in the fight or ill wishes for either group. TB
