Quote: Are you nuts!? You don't have 400 hours of ga/ppl time somewhere? I'd definitely do the conversion. It's really not a conversion either. They want the time from block out to block in. Figure it out for them.
Hahaha!!!
Even with conversion, I only come to almost 3800TT, VX doesn't count sim time and other time is worthless.
I have maybe, 30 hours GA time before I left for pilot training and 1 hour of "See What It's Like To Fly" in a C-152 before I applied to pilot training.
These things just have a way of working themselves out for the best. By my (and other military guys) not having 4000 hours, means that other guys have a shot at getting hired. Not saying I'm some sort of great pilot or that I would be taking a slot from someone more qualified than I, but if someone with no PIC time can get into VX and out of the regionals, all the better!! (man, that just came out egotistical, NOT at all how I meant it)
Good luck to all who apply, VX seems like a really cool place to be a part of.

Quote: Never mind. You do realize the pay there is abysmal. 2d year FOs at SWA, FDX, and UPS make more than any capt there.....and have a retirement.
True, but it does no good when FedEx, SWA and UPS aren't hiring. VX is, and guys need to fly and earn a paycheck.

Quote: Sorry for the thread hijack, but since we are talking VA and classes:

We were told in the interview that the company manuals, docs and training material are mainly made for Windows viewing. And that tech support would be very difficult with a Mac.

Just curious if any VA pilots use Mac for company stuff? Any problems? Should someone who might be in a future class be looking at buying a Windows laptop? Steer clear of a Mac?

Thanks!

Mr. White
If you've already got a mac, don't go out and buy a new computer. I have a mac and it was no problem with all the company manuals, websites, and scheduling stuff. That was in 2010 too.

I'd still apply. I've heard they have hired guys with less than 4000 total time. When it comes to stuff like this, let THEM tell you no. Don't do it to yourself.

That's the greatest news ever. I gotta get my app in at those places. Oh wait, SWA's not hiring and probably going to park their AT pilots, FDX needs super heavy time or know at least everyone to get on, maybe you get lucky without it, and UPS still hasn't recalled all of their furloughed pilots back (that's a good retirement plan). It's not the best pay or the worst pay in the industry, but your QOL is prob 10 times better than most.

Does anybody know how long between the questionnaire email and the interview invite email?

Did anybody else feel as crappy as I did after taking that online assessment? Some of the questions were easy, and it seemed like there was a lot of irrelevant info added in just to determine if you could effectively sift information and get to what is relevant. But other questions...WOW. Complicated for a limited timeframe.

Could be anything from 2 days to 2 months. If you don't pass, you won't hear anything.

What was the time frame between completing the online assessment and receiving the questionnaire? That's the situation I find myself in.
