I am new to this whole application/interview thing, I am retiring from a government job in the next few months. I have 3500TT and 2000TPIC (BE-300 and ATR). I am looking for clarification on the letters of recommendation. Does filling out the information in Pilot Credentials count as LOC or do I need actual letters?

There have been lots of rumors lately about large numbers of people either no-showing for classes or quitting right after starting. So far, those have almost all been false.

To date, there have supposedly only been 2 people that no-showed for class. A few have had to push their start date back, mostly due to COVID or a death in the family/sick spouse/sick child. There have already been classes with more than initially projected because people from earlier classes that had to postpone joined a later class.

Also, there have only been a couple that left early. For the most part, these are from the AA WO that had class dates elsewhere that they really wanted to be, but took the flow because they would get the huge bonus for flowing to AA. Whoever came up with that flow bonus was really an idiot, but whatever. Free money for those that couldn't get hired elsewhere.

So, when you hear the rumors that 8-10 people didnt show up, or "half the class didnt even come back for week 2 of indoc" (as a APA rep recently told a bunch of people), it is completely false.

Do you know if they ever put a bonus repayment stipulation if the flows leave within a certain amount of time?

Nope. It’s strictly an agreement between the pilot and PSA. Once a pilot has moved on to AA, either flow or OTS, they’ve satisfied the agreement.

In short, AA can’t make an agreement with a PSA pilot as they’ve governed by the PSA CBA, to which AA is not a party. Likewise, PSA can’t place any conditions on an AA pilot, as they’re governed by the AA CBA.

The only repayment provision applies to the initial 30K that a PSA pilot could receive upon upgrade, provided he takes the bonus, and there are far more PSA Captains who have declined the bonus as they’re anticipating opportunities to go to somewhere other than AA.

That is every good information. Without any data, I would think any of the big 6 would mostly be destination places for pilots.
