That's what happens when you care about the safety of your passengers.

Exactly, when you care about the safety of your passengers you deice just because. Not because we’re skilled aviators and we are able to detect ice or frost on critical flight surfaces. And never mind the fact that us up front are the ones that will hit the ground first if there’s an incident or crash because of de icing negligence. News flash, when you care about your own well being and the safety of your crew everyone benefits. Unnecessary de icing is a waste of resources and a way of building credit for some.
No $hit. Always cracks me up on a clear, cloudless day there’s always skywest getting type 4. Get that block time, the passengers appreciate it.

Or they don’t want to get burned like I did out of the left seat a while ago. The classic, “yeah lets just get type 1 to save some time (maybe 5 minutes), taxi up to the runway, BOOM starts snowing barely. “Well I guess we’re heading back”. Oh, the best part, costed us another 25 and we were late. After that experience it changed my mindset.

Oh and btw, with the winter block DL adds into ETA, an extra 5 minutes for type 4 doesn’t effect on time performance.

Another factor, being to early presents waiting for a gate, and upsets passengers, as they’ve already felt we’ve arrived. Essentially It makes Delta look unorganized from an operational standpoint.

But in your reference to SkyWest, they do everything slow so that shouldn’t surprise anyone.
