I'm currently in my third year of college right now and trying to get my CFI by the time I graduate, so I have something to do after school. I'm a Poli Sci, History, and Physics major because my school doesn't have an aviation program (and I thought I wanted to go into law.) I'm only my schools soccer team (through scholarship) so my availability for work is minimal.

Any how, I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a loan out there with deferred payments for individuals who are in school? I have done some research and come up with a couple of possibilities (like Sallie Mae) but no big hits.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Key Bank is a big one, but I think they'll only approve you if they're already affiliated with your school.

It's not gonna make you Yeager or Hoover by any means, but since you're strapped for cash, have you looked into one of those short-term CFI/I "in a week" or whatever programs? Chances are they will be able to offer in-house financing or at least turn you on to and vouch for you to the lending institutions they normally use.

We'll I am currently working on my PPL. I'm just trying to make sure that I graduate with it in a year and a half, so that I have a good way to make some money and build time after school.

after you get your PPL, take the ground instructor writtens, use that as a bargaining chip to get cheap flight time..... well maybe... just an idea.

well the idea is a long shot, but it can't hurt (minus a couple'a hundred for writtens)

After you obtain PPL, take the FOI and the AGI writtens, and viola.... you are now an advanced ground instructor capable of giving ground instruction for any FAA rating and ground instruction for any flight review. So the idea is that maybe (long shot) you can teach ground instruction at a flight school in exchange for discounted flight time, kind of like how gas pumpers do at FBOs.
