I posted on baseops and didn't get responses. Anyone here apply sponsored to this past board and not pass? I know it's kind of personal info but at the same time it's an anonymous board so I hope you won't mind sharing.

See this baseops thread

I know of two close friends who were sponsored to the board and did not get accepted.

Next AFRC board is June 2011

Yeah, I posted on that thread but got about 1 reply so I was trying my luck here.
Do you know what their stats were?

No I'm not sure of their stats.

Why don't you throw up your scores and situation? maybe that will prompt people to comment more.

Well, because 1. any dude can comment "they look good " or "they look bad" but ultimately the ones who can judge exactly how good enough the scores are are the powers to be on the board. that's also why I don't see a point to people posting their scores on baseops' "what are my chances". 2. seems from this most recent board that it is no longer simply a "rubber stamp" for those who are sponsored. so it is a different ballgame even for folks on here who've had experience on previous boards. that's what I wanted to know stats of actual candidates who didn't pass.

So let's see, you don't see it necessary to share your information because 1. "any dude can comment....", but you want others to post their stats. Huh???? Does this make any sense?

What exactly are you wanting to achieve????

I am wanting to achieve knowing what kind of scores didn't make the cut. Normally I wouldn't even care and I didn't until now. But I heard that this recent batch were ranked and stacked under different standards than the past so I was curious what that might be. Putting my own scores out there is pointless because whatever anyone on this forum might think of my score means nothing. And I don't mean that in a bad way. What I mean is 10 out of 10 guys can say "your scores look great" but really the only person(s) whose opinion matters is the general on the board looking at the applications and he could have a completely different idea than those 10 guys from this forum. The only slight gauge of their new standards is to see what kind of scores didnt make the cut on the actual board. That is why I want to know them, and that is why I'm not curious enough of your opinion of my scores to post em here. Personally I don't mind sharing but it serves no purpose. Does it make sense now. If it makes anyone feel better to know my scores before they divulge theirs I have no prob sharing. So far it seems none of those Sept 10 board candidates read this forum or they don't want to share. oh well.

Do people still think the highest score wins? Are these the same people who think having a CFII or whatever bazillion hours is going to get them in?

It is all about WHO you know and if that person likes you.

You're right, when it comes to unit selection. The people at the unit get to meet you in person and see if they like you.. the people on the board don't. That's why I assume the board is going off strictly on the package and the numbers. Also, that's just what I've heard. I'm sure there are some in there who know important people so their scores won't really matter but how about the rest of us who don't know anyone? There has got to be many like me - when I went to Brooks only a few of the other candidates were legacies. Why are they turning down numerous unit sponsored guys now? (and I don't even know how numerous 'numerous' is, but it was significant enough of a change from the previous boards that people noticed.)

My CP just called me. One of the guys we submitted did not get picked up. Evidently there were 51 apps and 40/41 slots. They gave pref to the folks who were bumping against the age limit. The next board is moved to June....but rumor is there will only be a couple of OTS classes next year? Rumor only.

My advice to guys who didn't get picked up. Keep flying. Retake the AFOQT if the scores were iffy..and ask the sponsoring unit to send your package back for the June board.
