I'm thinking anyone who will burn a 10 year stamp for you is someone you can trust. No sure how I would feel burning that stamp for someone then getting a "well...I need to see some PROOF" from the person. That, uh...might not go so well for the person I considered sponsoring. Personally, I have always sent a copy of my LOR for a person to see.

A few years ago I had a person...employed at another airline at time on mil leave ask me for an LOR. I told them I'd be glad to give it...once they were 6 months or so from finishing their orders out and "in the cue". He wanted it THEN, even though it was 24 months before he was available. Since we were told at the time that our recs were sort of divided up in value by the number of recs we had on file, I wanted to focus on the 2-3 guys I knew who needed jobs right then. I felt a little pushed when I got the "dude...where's my LOR?..." email. Now--I'm a pretty mellow guy at heart, and I understand the guy had his own stress going on, so I explained the situation and told him to contact me 6 months out. Instead, he went back to his old airline a while back when things improved significantly there. Meanwhile, my other 2 guys are both new hires here now. So--in my mind--I made the right call.

Point is tread lightly. Folks are glad to help you...but its still a courtesy and not a requirement.

Appreciate the advice. That said, I don't think either of us were questioning the generosity and integrity of our endorsers. The confusion is that the old system notified all parties and the new system only notifies the endorser, not the endorsee. It certainly led me to believe that the IT structure hadn't caught up with the new PE policy. But your viewpoint isn't wrong.

Thanks for your advice. I agree 100%, and maybe I miscommunicated. I never meant that I was needing proof from my endorser. I did not even mentioned it to him at all... just here on this forum. I was not questioning the endorsement. I am extremely grateful and thankful for it.

I was just raising a question about the new tab and software at PilotCredentials. It's a new system, and I would hate for my friend to use his 10yr rec and go to so much effort only for the system to not recognize it. Before the change I could see the rec. Now I can't.

Flanders confirmed that the software is working properly though.

I didn't take it the way Albie did at all. I absolutely understood where you guys were coming from as applicants who saw something different than previous and were simply worried that the system was glitchy.

If you knew how poor some IT rollouts have been on the operations side, you would be even more worried!

So after one gives their 10 year Personal Endorsement, you cant even give letters of recommendation anymore? I wrote a letter of recommendation for a deserving individual and after going to pilotcredentials.com, I cant find a place to upload it as it only asks if I am giving out or have given out a Personal Endorsement. Any idea if letters of rec are still accepted? If so, how does one do it?

I had several letters of rec uploaded to the system with the confirmations visible on my Pilot Credentials account prior to the new PE system. Now they're gone. Letters got wiped from the system when it changed over to PEs. Applicants can still list references, though.

Has anyone been called after using a PE yet?

In for the answer to this. I've heard you can upload letters that aren't Personal Endorsements, but I haven't figured out how.

Unless the Application has changed (I just opened mine, but I'm now on property). You can send a Letter of Recommendation to the Applicant to post in the "Attachments" section.
