Quote: Pretty much what he said. You can have whatever schedule you wish, as long as it's 4 on 2 off and 11 days off each month.
You'll survive lol. How would you like to be on reserve for over a year like i was? 11 days off was it, with a 2-3 leg commute, 8+ year upgrade, and no premium pay. Alternatively, we have those who went through furlough. All of you new guys and gals don't realize what you have just yet. Sure, the schedules need work, but they are not the horror they once were with all of the outstation bases. Things will get better in time...

As a new hire awaiting training - I DO realize that we may have it as good as it has ever been.

HOWEVER, that does not take away from our god given and constitutionally guaranteed right as pilots to b!tch and moan about every little thing. We are all unique snowflakes, and need to be revered, after being put on the pedestal!

Kinda like Henry Ford huh?

BTW, if you look at the Time away from base, it is just about 360 hrs, or 15 24 hr periods. That is 1/2 the month. so the 4 on 2 offs, are actually 72-74 hrs away from base, or 3 days & 3 nights. so you get 3 days and 3 nights off, though the days are split, first & last. So while officially 11 full days off, it is more like 15 days off, in a manner of speaking.

If you have to spend that time commuting, sucks
If you live in base, yay!

PS - can you tell I am an optimist

I know it's been said a million times but it really is true at Piedmont. If you live in base, your quality of life is 10x better. Right now, we pretty much solely do PHL turns so if your flight to wherever gets cancelled guess who's sleeping in their own bed? Plus, if I'm sitting around the house looking for something to do and get a call to do a quick round trip for triple premium, it's an easy decision. It's a pretty stress free existence, the only catch is you have to live near Philly. There are some decent affordable areas within an hour drive.

Nothing better than having a reserve day and sitting in my pool...

Yep. Any color you want as long as it's black.

Sorry, had to say that because I assumed most didn't get it.

Philly/ surrounding areas are pretty dang cool if you, ya know, get out of your basement and don't let your false idea of what it's like keep you from having an open mind....

Anyway, is there not gonna be another bid until November? I know that one bid was meant to improve planning but I didn't realize that would keep them from posting bids in the interim

"I had at bad so lets settle for less than we're worth" -PDT ALPA

Sorry you came here when it was bad and dealt with that, I realize it was much worse than it is today. But there are far too many people with this mentality at PDT who are stopping progress. They're giving people $20k just to come here, don't you think we have the upper hand? I sure do.

Mostly curious, can anyone take a shot at how long until the schedules get start getting a bit better?
