Saw some older 2014-ish threads, wanted to get an update.

Logbook Pro or Log 10 X. I have both a MacBook and PC at the house. I do have some excel files I need to import into whatever electronic logbook I go with.

I have had logbook pro for several years and I absolutely hate it. Very user unfriendly interface. I like the printable reports it can export but that's about it. It also makes you pay a yearly subscription fee to be able to directly import your schedule from Flica or whatever so I have to make a spreadsheet in excel and import that manually. If I had a mac I would do log 10 for sure.

The old Log X was horrific and you used to have to write your own filters to get data sets. Apparently the founder sold out to some other software company and I've had a few reports that new setup is better.

I can't speak at all for Logbook Pro or for the newer subscription-based Log 10 X (I currently still use the non-subscription-based Log10Pro). However, I can tell you that any software that is subscription-based must be considered carefully. I don't care how cheap it is per minute/hour/day, if you stop paying, you will no longer be able to input flights to your logbook. Personally, I think you'd be hard-pressed to find professional pilots who are willing to commit to having their logbook held hostage in this manner. But then again, I didn't see our current political landscape coming either. Oh, and if you do find a pilot who's happy paying the monthly/yearly fees, then I suspect they'll regret it eventually. My 2 cents.

If you buy log ten pro on iMac (MacBook, or desktop) you only pay one fee. Unlimited updates. The yearly subscription is only for mobile devices.

Dang it! I forgot! Still mad the mobile app requires a subscription. [emoji12]

Logbook Pro (desktop) is not subscription based. The schedule importer is subscription based but not the logbook itself so your logbook will never be "held hostage" by anyone.

Logbook pro works for me. The user interface isn't terribly consistent and the multi-computer synchronization requires fiddling, but once you figure out a workflow it isn't hard to use. If you want features like the airline app or mobile entries or online backup, then yes it has subscription fees. But I've been doing just fine with the "pro" version on 2 computers with no subscription, and it works ok. I had the pleasure of entering in about 29 years of paper logbooks into logbook pro, and after a while I got used to it even with the handful of little UI annoyances.

The lack of a true cloud-based sync function to sync the logbook between 2 computers is probably my biggest annoyance or disappointing feature fail.
