Vacation question

Hola,
I have 2 weeks vacation starting 17jul. Have 80 hrs in vacation bank. Here's what I want to do: take July off and first week of August with slide.

My options if I understand correctly, 1) Bid reserve line. Jul CH for R line is 71...so, I can kill the r line, then slide my vacation a day or two into Aug. I'll have 9 hrs in bank to be able to knock out first week Aug. Go negative. Trick is I have to leave enough vacation days in Jul to cover r day hours, right?

Or....

2) Bid a flying line that will be knocked out with vacation, then slide into August a day or two and expanding back left to touch July trips if need be.

Both seem viable, correct?

Secondly, with that vacation slid into Aug a few days, when Aug bid rolls around, can I expand right still?

Thanks in advance.

I would bid a flying line for July. If it's 72 hours or less, keep 11 days in July and slide the rest into August.. with 66 hours + 6 in July you can knock out the whole month by expanding.. then you'll have 3 days for August.. and I'm pretty sure that you can expand that end to knock out 18 hours.

You can expand in either direction up to your vacation block total hours +6. In your case 14*6+6=90. As long as you have one day in the next month, you can expand. Another option would be to slide a couple days into August and expand your July vacation day. Then bid a longer trip in August that touched the vacation slide. No limit to hours on trips that touch a vacation slide.

I slid 5 days into August, and expanded left back into July. I have a positive balance and want to go negative...

My question is will I still have option to expand it in August bid month?

yes,
as long as you have a positive balance and 1 day in the bid month

You can expand the total hours of your vacation block plus 6 hours. If you had 14 days of vacation, your total expansion can be no more than 90 hours. So you could expand in August with your July expansion plus your August expansion up to a total of 90 hours combined. The other option would to bid a long trip that touched the days you slid into August.

I have vacation and training in the same month, first time ever. Having been there done that on getting the one training date you don't want that knocks out your single departure line for the month, my question is: Does training take priority over vacation if the part of the trip footprint that lies outside the vacation window conflicts with an awarded recurrent training date?

Couldn't find it in the contract and didn't want to start a new thread.

Not really sure I understand what you are asking or your situation, but here it goes anyway. You slide and expand your vacation before you bid for training dates, so if you knock out a trip with vacation, your training date can't touch your expanded or slid vacation footprint. If after you slide and expand your vacation, you bid a training date that touches a trip, the trip is dropped for training and you have to go into CIC or make-up to get the hours back.

Hope this helps.

Yep, sure did, despite my poorly worded question. Thanks.
