Quote: From my source at Omni. They have used MD-80, 737-400, 737-800, A-300, 767, 747-400 Sims. Depends on availability. If the interview is in Tulsa it can be in the Red Bird Twin Simulator or the B-777 FTD Trainer, so it's a crap shoot if it's worth a sim prep.
Thanks. The type doesn't matter as much to me. Just figured it might be good to brush up on flying raw data since I fly a 170. It's hard to do on my plane.

Microsoft flight sim is in my humble opinion, the cheapest, easiest and most readily available method of brushing up on ones instrument skills. Or in my case, a lack there of. I bought a yoke for my students, I would invite them over, make them buy the beer, and we’d practice dme arcs, constant rate climbs and descents, holding and other instrument maneuvers that I probably need to practice again. It’s been nearly 15 years and I still have the yoke, I used it before all my interviews and my students still thank me on occasion.

I submitted an app on OMNI’s website a few days back. It was a straight forward app. I got the TBNT email this morning. I don’t want to presume that I’m qualified but I have to say I was a bit disappointed, but mostly I’m interested in finding out what might have made me less competitive.

10000 Total time
7000 Jet
4000 Jet PIC mostly 135 some part 91
Some international

No College degree

Sorry about the TBNT. Frankly, I’m not sure what’s qualifying and preferable for scoring an interview these days. I’m surprised 10,000tt and 4000 TPIC isn’t being selected for an interview.

Perhaps it was the lack of a degree? I know that carries a lot of weight with most operators. Maybe I made a stupid mistake on the application. Either way I'll just stay positive and keep applying for airline jobs.

It might be the competition during the application window. There has been an increase in qualified heavy 121 experience applying lately.

I prefer that hypothesis.
