Chest Murmur

I am 19 years old, obtaining my ratings, and hold a first class medical. I recently went to the doctor for flu like symptoms (Ended up being just a small cold) and they decided to give me an EKG after the physician heard something while listening to my heart beat. They had explained that due to my rigorous exercise habits, that I do in fact have a small murmur but it is potentially harmless.

My question is.. should I schedule a visit with a Cardiologist just to make sure everything is 100% good to go before I continue my training?

Also, if I visit a Cardiologist and everything is ok, do I explain everything to my AME during my next visit?

Yes, that murmur is common enough among athletes. For military EKG's, they would have us do pushups first to get the heartrate above the rough low idle, just to get a cleaner EKG. I still do that for FAA EKGs.

As of now I think you have to report the visit for the virus. You don't have to talk about any EKG results if the doc said they're normal.

If you go to a specialist, you'll have to report that and explain why. But if you have any doubt about your health based on what the doc said, you should follow up. Can't hurt, since you're still in training.

I appreciate the response. I run very frequently and never have issues with my chest or have any sort of breathing problems. I'll schedule an appointment with a specialist just to be on the safe side of things before I proceed any further with my training. Thanks again.
