as a ploy. Trojan Horse so to speak. As a union we need to decline their offer to negotiate outside of section 6. Hope the new guys arent the same as the old guys.

Quote: That's what I don't understand..... why would mgmt negotiate anything about scope since they have no prohibition against putting 90 seaters at Horizon right now?
They know it would foment mutiny.

They may also be looking at mergers.... If AS just starts flying 90 seaters, a merging unions scope would likely be a show stopper. But if the AS union grants them 90 seat scope in writing, the merged company would be in a much stronger position to keep it. That's what I think this is all about. Otherwise they could just do it.

You all must be willing to walk over scope in 2020. SkyWest won't get anything over 76 seats and/or 86K MTOW because of the implications that would have on their DAL & UAL flying. Their business would be decimated if they did that. I know that our MEC at United would force the termination of the CPA with SkyWest. Horizon is the alligator closest to the boat. While most of the pilots at QX do not want anything to do with a 90 seat airplane, they really have no choice if AAG decides to put them there.

I have little confidence in the MEC at AS. Their MEC has historically been a training ground for future management positions. Scope is a dire issue for your pilot group.

Looks like that may not be true?

SkyWest has orders but hasn't accepted delivery of a single one. They banked on major's getting scope concessions to allow it.

When I was at Horizon we had 100 seat rates in our contract. There will be plenty of people lining up to fly a 190/195 at Horizon should AAG choose to place them there.

Yes SKW took non-obligatory positions on the MRJ as well (also a bit too heavy for current scope). Good for SKW, in that they lock in positions if they need them later, but not binding. Good for the manufacturer because it puts some numbers on the board, and shows credibility with a significant US airline.

Both embraer and mitsubishi arrogantly disregarded US scope language, assuming that was a speed bump which a little corruption could smooth over, and both are now in serious trouble because of it.

I don’t know why we’re even talking about scope or job protections. That ship sailed off a long time ago. The only way either one will show up on property is if AS is merged with another carrier that has it. Plain and simple. You think AS management is ever gonna give that up? They don’t even care about PBS. What’s on the table that the pilots can barter with? Absolutely nothing! The contract is pretty much a big ******* sandwich.

You are correct, Sir. No amount of saber rattling by the pilots will ever change that.
