Unfortunately, Alaska management's attitude toward unions hasn't changed much in the last twenty years. I've been here to witness two decades of contract violations, negotiating in bad faith, union-busting tactics, and stalling during contract negotiations. Not to mention management targeting certain pilots (say, union volunteers).

Even if you plan to be here "only" two or three years, please get involved and help make this a better place to work. I'm getting close to retirement. A lot of people have helped me in my career - time to "pay it forward"!. Working for better pay and benefits helps everyone.

Your Union is only as good as the volunteers that give up their time to make every pilot’s life better. If you’re not involved with it, then you have not earned the right to complain about it.
