Not sure if this is new or not. But $22,500 between two bonuses for guys who’ve yet to turn a wheel for Skywest shows there’s money to go around.

Still the same $7,500. Bonus. But you get tuition reimbursement of 15k. Others get more, such as current SkyWest employees.... we have lots of rampers/FA’s foing to Flight school because of the reimbursement... not a bad gig.

So these are people who have paid to sit right seat in something like a Beech 99 instead of working for a living and then OO will pay off 15k of their “training”.

(serious question) Could you tell me how to go about getting more as a SkyWest employee? Im currently enrolled in one of the flight school's where SkyWest has a partnership program and everyone here including the non OO employees are getting the same amount....17,500.00 after they pass ioe....ends up being around 11k after taxes.

It would be extremely unusual for a CFI turned first year FO to have a 38% effective tax rate. Change your w4 for the bonus check if you can.

You can't change the federal tax rate on a bonus check. That rate is 25%. FICA and Medicare are another 7.65% combined. Altogether, that's $5700+ before state taxes or other deductions.

That’s why I said “if you can.” Either way, you’ll get it back, so just change your w4 for other checks to make it work if you need the money asap

Not to nitpick, but that's your federal withholding, not rate. Rate is what you actually owe the government. One of the biggest misconceptions in aviation is that bonuses are somehow taxed differently than other income.

Good nitpick... you're right on all counts.
