If it's broken it's broken. Cry all they want. Remember back in the original Miami days, the vp mx theres complaining to the chief pilot that the pilots are writing up airplanes and for the cp to have it stopped. To the cp credit he asked the vp of mx if the write ups are valid and the answer was yes, to which the cp says then there is nothing for him to do. A valid mx write up is valid and appropriate as per the far's and company fmp-1.
