Quote: While all you smart fellers are placing bets, how many 88A's in the top 200 AE or VD out? I'm going with 50 of the top 200, another 50 in the next 200 and the rest of the 240ish surplusses are a combination of AE, VD and MDs in the bottom 200. What say you?
Prediction: M88A, 190AE out, 20VD, 10MD, 20 unused displacements.
All AE out of the top half.

I think that is accurate. Won’t be very many MD’s off 88. I’ll go bold also and say ATL 7ERA goes to 7700.

And where are these 190 AE’s out of the 88A going to go? My guess is NOT to another base. Remember the 65 ATL 7erA’s are contingent upon other bases 7erA’s to bid out with no backfill. You will get some in Seattle. There is pent up demand in Seattle for the 330 and not just from the Seattle based pilots. I think there are a lot of commuters from Seattle to other bases that will try and get it too. I suspect more will VD out of the 88A than AE out. Another week or so and we’ll find out!

I think the 350, 777, and 330 A openings will move more than enough folks off the overstaffed 7ERA positions

2 more days til the AE results countdown begins. IMO this will be the most anticipated outcome in Delta history. The pilot group will reach fever pitch by the 27th

Maybe it’s just me, but this bid seems to be more about rearranging where guys are based vs. a huge overall bid. The lack of backfill in so many categories and the fact that many WB A positions are contingent on people moving out from somewhere else is a bit of a buzzkill. IMO, the May 2017 bid was a better overall bid.

There is a lot of shifting around due to Network's changing demands. However there are more Widebody positions in this bid than May 2017 bid, which closed the DTW 747 category. Time will tell, but the combination of more wide body positions and 100+ A220 Captain positions will make these bid results superior to May 2017

Quote: Ed,

Along with plenty of good advice from guys above I will add this.

Another thing to look at is previous month bid awards since in some categories senior guys may bid reserve allowing more junior folks to get a line. It does vary a lot from summer to winter so check the bid awards for at least July and maybe February and you will get a fairly good idea of how senior you need to be to avoid reserve.

Finally depending on how bad you want to avoid reserve when you come up with a number, say for example your bid award research yields that at roughly 78.43 seniority you can avoid reserve, pad it by a few points.

For example - avoid reserve at all costs put in 70%
avoid reserve most months put in 75%

I think but not am not sure that selecting Regular just defaults to a certain percentage bid so it is just choosing a predetermined percentage for you that historically avoids reserve. You can probably get better results with a little bid award research.

Good Luck. I would love to bid on this AE but I have too many commitments in the next 365 days. # 365 day conversions suck!

How can I see a bid award for a given category from July 2018? I think I can pull prior awards for my own category on PBS but not other categories.

Wide reports on crew resources page? Not sure how far back it goes.

Deltanet only goes back 3 months. Flightcrewtools goes all the way back to October 2017. You can browse entire bid packages or you can put in a seniority # and see what you could've held in any of those bid months.
