Quote: I’ve spoken to two MFR FOs who got 180 hours their first year with last month being their 12 month mark. For reference I’m at 240 in PDX at 11 months. Spokane friend is just shy of that, same seniority.
I flew about 300 hours my first year here. I am a Medford line holder. I consider the amount of flying that we do not do to be criminally negligent.

I am a Medford line holder bidding at the number 6 position. I flew just about exactly 300 hours in my first 12 months. I consider the amount of flying that we do not do to be criminally negligent.

Holy smokes. Note to self - don’t apply to Horizon once I hit 1,500 TT...

The solution for any regional applicants is simple. If you're interested in Horizon apply and interview. If they offer you a Q400 class, politely decline and say you're interested in the jet. If they say they only have the Q400 give them a thanks but no thanks, feel free to call me if a jet slot opens. Then keep shopping elsewhere.

From what I’ve heard jet upgrades are going more senior and you can’t upgrade into the jet by getting the 1000 hours. I fly with plenty of senior Capt’s who are thinking of jumping over. I wonder how senior it will go? Unlike the Q you still can at 1000 and they will beg you too. But I still think it’s worth waiting for the jet especially if you’re Seattle based.

Our Q reserves are flying 5-10 hours a month. If you go from Jet FO to Q captain after you fail your checkride you will need 1000 PIC to go to Alaska, would take years and years. Don't. Do it.

Most of us had to wait to upgrade even after we got our 1000, it's okay. If you're still in the right seat after 2-2.5 years then you can rethink it.

We should have another round of awards coming out soon, right? Would be nice to see how the jet upgrade awards are trending.

BTW I just now finally figured out how to find that info that Big Vanilla or whatever his name is posts on the 22nd after FLICA denies me month after month.

Hint: it's on the iPad.
