West Coast Commute

Assuming someone's not able to hold LGB and is commuting to the East coast, what tends to be the best/easiest cities out west for a commuter? I'm assuming the easiest would be the LA basin. What about SFO? Or LAS/PDX/SEA? I can play around with the route map, but was hoping to hear from people with some experience doing this.

i can't imagine anything easier than lax-jfk. the 2 biggest cities in the country. up to 30 flights a day it seems like. lots of jetblue flights both ways. don't get me wrong...commuting is painful no matter what. and it's a long flight for sure. but there are so many flights on so many airlines. i never had a problem making it to work or back home when i did the commute.

i haven't done sfo-jfk, but i would imagine it is not quite as convenient but is close to being so?

That commute would be painful. 5 hours in the air...no thanks.

Like you said close but lags LAX in just about every way. Fewer flights, SFO is delay prone, longer flight times etc. But aside from the high # of flights you can connect to LA/NY from just about any mid size city in the country.

I did the EWR-LAX commute a couple months. Between AS and UA there were 15+ flights/day and Fedex had 2 nonstops as well. Several times I took that 1:10am depart EWR on Fedex landing LA about 4am. I always got on, never missed a flight. The problem with this commute isn’t making a flight. It’s the 6.5 hr westbound, 5.5 hr eastbound duration along with the 3 hr time zone change. Do this 4 times a month and you’ve spent 2 full days (48 hrs block) in the air commuting. It’s long, tiring, and IMO only a short term solution. I can’t imagine commuting this for the rest of a 30+ yr career. So I moved to LAX.
