Hello All,
For background information I'm currently an instructor and looking at the Regionals. due to family situation I'm pretty positive I'm going to be moving to STL ( St.louis MO). for at least a year or two. Long term I'd like to be based out in the north west U.S. area after though. Obviously none of the airlines I mentioned are based out of STL so I'll have to commute. I've got a fair amount of debt from flight school to pay off so.

So Im looking for advice on which airline to choose. things i am prioritizing are: 1. decent QOL and pay, I find work rules to be important and I've found that I like the contract rules of EDV and RAH. 2. Bases. My end goal is being based out west with the possible movement to a major airline where I can be based out west. 3. Pay. I wasn't kidding about those loans and even a decreased pay period for training is something Im concerned against. 4. Commuting Policy. I Just don't want to get stuck on short call reserve having to commute.

Your advice is appreciated.

Well Republic and Endeavor don’t have any west coast bases. That being said I wouldn’t personally go work for SkyWest.

Thanks for the response. The goal is not to stay at the regionals so I wouldn't mind not living in the northwest for a few more years.

You're gonna get stuck on SCR commuting to somewhere if you're gonna live in STL.

That being said, EDV operates pretty much everything on Delta between LGA and STL, so there's always a jumpseat there for you.

If you went with OO, then MSP would be close, but all OO MSP pilots are *******s, so no one would like you.

For now.... We all know how Daddy D shifts flying around.

If you're going to have to commute, I'd say Endeavor is an easy choice. Don't have to worry about not getting to work.

Endeavor has the best commuting policy. If you miss your first commute..... You'll get positive space as long as you leave a second opportunity. The first can be on any airline but the second has to be mainline or dci.

Pay is also better too

I'd seriously look into Envoy.

Envoy has both a DFW and ORD base that wouldn’t be a terrible commute, look into them as well. GoJet has STL lol as a base and TSH, nothing beats living in base.

TSA has a STL base and if you want to move west later you can be based in DEN. The pay rate is not the best but there are some pretty decent bonuses right now and you'll get through training and into a line pretty quickly.
