Glad I left my corp. Fortune 25 job years ago for the majors. Those that stayed got a raise which was good. But my boss was ordering parts for his Stearman restoration and billing the flt. dept. He also tried to fire one of our pilots, who went to the CEO and pleaded his case. Seeing that pilot flew the CEO often, the door was open for a meeting. That resulted in a full scale HR audit of the department and a look at the books which resulted in the parts billing discovery. The boss was canned, the pilot stayed.
Later, it all ended badly with HR sending a non pilot down to run flight. A few years later just about everyone was canned just at the point where their pensions were impacted severely by age.
I had some rough years at the airline after 9-11, but was very glad I left.
