That said, this is a different animal (not talking about frontier), little more than just a recession, more mass hysteria than anything. Seriously, who the he*l is buying all the water?!?!

Me, I'm looking for some good deals as there will be some great vacation opportunities coming soon! Oh, and not that place where the rat lives, you can keep that hole!

Happy traveling!
amen brother. Must be flu season.

Pure media-driven hysteria. Never let a crisis go to wa$te. Panic dejour. Once thIs subsides, another crisis will invariably replace it. Wall Street makes money when Markets go up or down. The more volatility, the more they make.

Sadly, the airlines will take the brunt but this too will pass. Fwiw I'm buying airline stocks.

Quote: No, not at all. Unlike Norwegian and the rest of the tendrils of that beast, United pilots actually improve this industry not harm it.
Asking again - who do you fly for?

Yup.... Thank the fake news media and their desire to disparage Trump. This is the equivalent of the flu. Stop the hype.

As demand continues to tank, I’d expect further reductions probably into the 20-40% domestic and 50% international once the virus takes hold in the USA which it will. AA has a good chance of headed into bankruptcy post haste and other airlines will simply park and wait while reducing staff levels. This won’t be over until mid 2021 when a vaccine arrives and people feel safe.

You have a fully stocked fallout shelter too?

Follow the facts. That’s why I started this thread. The indicators that are the most telling to me are conferences being cancelled and corporate travel bans being imposed, as that will obviously result in a huge impact on airline revenue.

Conferences being cancelled:

Companies banning non essential international & domestic travel:

Even when conferences are not cancelled, companies that do not have travel bans are pulling their attendance.

These are not all inclusive lists. Just a basic search for Corona Virus travel ban comes up with a ton of companies that aren’t even listed on the first link (UBS, Ford, Chrysler, way too many more for me to list).

No doubt it will get worse before it gets better. We need to see these travel bans rescinded and these conference cancellations to stop, otherwise I think we are in for a rough ride.

This will fizzle out by mid April and everyone will look foolish for the massive over reaction.

I noticed this morning when scanning the news sites they have greatly toned down their coronavirus coverage. Somebody had a come to Jesus with them it seems.

Yeah the effects are pretty deep as far as the airline and travel industry goes. We are very sensitive to even small reductions in demand.

if you think we are immune to this you are out of your mind. The only other Airlines in worse shape than us are United & AA (actually owes more than the company is worth) but we are pretty well loaded with debt thanks to Vanilla Bob and can’t really afford a major downturn. Our operating cashflow was basically zero in 3rd quarter and we had a bad 4Q. The difference between AA & UAL IS THE GOVT WILL BAIL THEM OUT, we’ll just go buh-bye 😁
