that would be 2 crews of 5 for each outerisland layover. That’s 40 for pilots and flight attendants. Not to mention the added ground staffing (MX, cleaners, ground transportation, etc.). I’m just wondering what the breakeven point is. Those early flights out of HNL weren’t completely empty precovid. Seems like the number crunchers are missing something. Not to mention the increase in fatigue/sick calls as a result of these terrible pairings.

Seems like continuous duty overnights would cost less for the company

true but they would credit 7-8 hrs with that duty rig. Saves money on hotels but not wages. Could be a win win

How long does it typically take NHs to go from reserves to line holder in any of the airframes? And is QoL about the same right now for reserves and line holders? Heard HAL is a little short staffed on pilots at the moment, thus pilots are getting worked more than usual.
