Default Typical schedule

I was wondering if anyone could give some info on the schedules of each airframe. What could a new hire expect for the 717/320/330? Many thanks in advance!

Following! Also interested in learning about the typical monthly flying schedule for a new FO in any HAL airframe, be it reserve vs line pilot.

The reserve rules just changed quite a bit with a new LOA that starts in January. Can’t really say how junior schedules will turn out, but probably mixed reserve lines with a lot of flying that nobody wants. 330: LAX and LAS Red Eyes, most NEO trips are two day out and backs, 717 you can expect lots of outerisland overnights with min rest and lots of landings.

Such a bummer Hawaiian is now doing overnights at outer islands. You couldn't have asked for a better QOL as an airline pilot than spending every night in your own bed.

Sorry if this has been answered earlier, but how many hours of flying per month can new hires expect? And do they even come close to 1000 flight hours per year?

Are you talking about block hours or pay? Actual block hours will probably be around 400 at most for the first year, with training and reserve. Pay will be the 75 hours min guarantee per month.

why would you even want to come anywhere near 1000 hours in a year? Probably do half that at most. First year is probably 75 hrs/month of pay credit. No reason to do more. You’re only making $36/hr.

Agreed. Wasn’t it all one-day trips on that fleet for many years? What changed?

Good question.
Management said it was to compete with SWA early departures form the outer islands to HNL.
In reality, SWA has cut back their interisland schedule quite a bit to concentrate on direct neighbor island flights. Hawaiian still has more overnight pairings for the interisland trips than normal day trips and of course crickets from management.

just doing some napkin math here, cheaper to overnight a couple crews than fly all the FFODs out of HNL with terrible load factors
