Quote: I think the mitigation was a slam dunk, home run.

The curve was flattened, a guy on CNN in March said we'd loose 2-3 million Americans, and would need to build makeshift hospitals in high school gyms.
Yeah other news outlets were saying we'd lose 10 million plus americans and that the mortality rate was 4-5% or greater.

We now know that those numbers were way overblown and the actual mortality rate is closer to .1 or .2 percent... and yet the rules just keep getting worse and worse. It makes no sense.

Quote: There will be a vaccine. No worries.

You’re worried about the airlines? People don’t even want to leave their homes right now for fear of catching a disease that could kill them, let alone sit shoulder to shoulder with other people in a long metal tube for a couple hours. Nearly every service industry is in peril. Once people feel like they are protected they will start to do normal things again.

We have a president with an itchy trigger finger to start up the economy. So, a second wave of infections is a strong possibility. That would suck.

So long as the vaccine roll out isn’t the same cluster-******* as the mitigation to slow the infections, we should be good. Just relax and stop trying to guess when things will happen.

could be tears if we don’t get a vaccine

Quote: We are just passing 100k American deaths in roughly 2 months with major social distancing restrictions. Now we are opening back up with no change to vaccine or treatment, the rate may even go up.

Don’t count that number as too far from reality. I think it’s possible we get many hundreds of thousands of deaths in the US alone before this is all over.
The change is millions have had it didn't get tested and can't spread it. No one knows how large herd immunity is right now because no one with mild symptoms got tested.

Most of what scientists are estimating is 5-7% with antibodies, even in Sweden where SIP wasn't mandatory. No legitimate experts are estimating we have herd immunity levels at this point.
