I think you misunderstand what I am trying to say.
In the past the company has said that D3 charges were to cover the cost of the flight and to be cost neutral, at least something to that effect. So with this super cheap fares either we are flying at a loss or the company is making money on Non-Revs.Which is it. Yeah these fares under $50 aren't new. I saw a few fares last year (PHL-MCO) for under $30.
To be honest, I rarely give out any passes.To much of a headache for the traveler and non-reving is quickly becoming a thing of the past.

Why should any labor group (or company) subsides passenger travel?
I have been furloughed multiple times and if I wanted to travel I had to pony up and buy a ticket. Why should you be different?

With the government paying the labor costs and cheap gas, we are probably making money on some of these.

American Airlines invented Yield Management. The $30 seat sold at a loss is better than an empty seat "worth" $X.

I'd bet the price of the D3 is closer to what it takes to cover the company's costs of filling that seat.

But they were so generous to allow us to nonrev until 30JUN....when it was damn near impossible to get anywhere during that time. We never did get our “pro rated” fees back. I’m sure Saint Louis pocketed that money

nonrev may come back in vogue.... post 911 it was easy as crap to get on anywhere for many years at least on USAir.

The cares act repealed the tax on tickets and federal tax on jet fuel. I’m sure the non-rev fees will not get updated since the taxes come back next year and AA is losing billions. Just be happy since usair took over AA, employees no longer have to pay to sit in coach while commuting to work.
