If you are just completing your 1500 hours, do you have your 4 year college degree? If not, get it. Have something to fall back on for a couple of years, until the train leaves the station again. If you are able to do something before then, consider yourself lucky.

Quote: Bingo. Bedford said it himself, his vision for Republic is to be a smaller, niche regional in the northeast market. Wouldn’t be surprised to see ORD close soon after MIA.
Even ORD huh? With all the United flying Republic does?

we fly lots of United flights through ORD. Very very few originating in ORD. A very small base for us

Quote: Your safest bet is probably Skywest. Good luck. Hopefully your CFI gig is solid, you might be there for the better part of the next year or two.
That might even be optimistic.

Yes. You don't come to Republic for base security. Unless you live in the Mecca or NY.

Yep. Base staffing levels (CAs) as of 9/16: LGA - 150, EWR - 127, CMH - 145, IND - 190, ORD - 80...

Chicago has been our biggest base by departures throughout COVID, the most departures per day by far. The only base that has actually seen any growth. Even with that Republic still can't staff it the way it should be. The fact that it takes 10+ years to hold it as a captain AND THEN still be on reserve is pathetic. If that doesn't show what Republic thinks of Chicago I don't know what will. Republic has been retreating to the northeast and outstation regional model since this started. Hard to believe Republic will be anything more than a northeast regional after this.

Bedford does'nt want, and never wanted ORD. That base was was a left over after Sh***-Taco STL closed. If I remember correctly (and one of the RJETers can correct me if Im wrong) but I believe that there were two different pay scales, at the time, for the E140 and the E145. The Rev keep ORD only so he could pay the lower scale to the 140 crews. Any 145 flying was crewed from IND. RP does the same thing in CLT. A ton of flying that is crewed from the Mega-Outstations.
