agreed!1605 is not the real furlough number. AA is just saving a little PR face by being able to publicly say they are "furloughing" less than DL and UAL, for the time being. I do not fall into the 1605 or 2227 group but I for damn sure would be in favor of a temporary AVL reduction to save some fellow pilots from gettinga 100% AVL reduction. I really don't understand the backlash from some about even entertaining this idea?? I get it that those senior guys have taken their share of career setbacks but wouldn't they have wanted the senior pilots back then to do the same thing if it meant keeping them off the street? And please spare me with the I better off for it now and I came out better than before comments, bc for everyone of those stories there is probably 5 others who don't post on APC about how horrible and life ****ing it was. No one wants a rate cut but an AVL reduction to keep more bodies on property helps us in recovery and the company will want to maximize efficiency of the staff they have so AVL won't last forever. Listen, we all know the industry is cyclical, however there’s no need to continue the cycle of eating the young. I have 30 years left and fully expect to both make it out of this crisis AND go through another crisis or 3. One thing I won’t do, however, is throw the junior pilots under the bus under the guise of “you’ll be senior one day” or “I went through hell in 2020 so I’m not giving up a dollar, because the company is just going to take advantage of that.” What’s the saying? Excuses are like .......

Right now I will happily take whatever traffic and revenue we can get. Hopefully in time we can also build a customer relationship with some and as they progress in life and careers they remember their travel early on.

Think it’s been mentioned by Vasu and others. Getting these customers regardless of how they dress is important. Have a feeling you might be right on some but we can’t paint with such a broad brush. Bet some of those you mentioned do well in life and are customers we wish we’d have later when they are doing well.

I'll add onto this, the senior guys worried about losing a few bucks have had a hell of a lot more time to get a savings together to weather a storm like this, most of the 1605 struggled through the regional model to pay student loans and keep themselves afloat. Most the senior guys were hired directly into a major, that's been a huge advantage for them. Best of luck to everyone else in the 1605, myself included.

I am probably not alone, I have over 200 apps/resumes out across the country and not all in aviation. So far total crickets. The old joke about home depot and lowes is actually looking like a best case reality at this point. That's seriously bad.

Yup, agree w a scientific certitude. We got taken out back and shot. And it’s the worst thing i’ve seen a union do in 14 years. Never thought anything would top cutting eagles throats back in the day. But this takes it. “you’ll be senior one day” is such a scam in this environment. APA sure was certain the govt would bail them out yet again. I’ve stopped my GAC contributions and i’ll donate to ALPAs when I can. The ONE time the union could have united us and looked out for everyone during a pandemic that’s completely out of our control and nope! While AA was willing and able to sit down explore all options to do what they said they wanted and we didn’t have NC. This is unforgivable. AA earned a company man, and a NO to ANYTHING asked by apa for a very very long time.
