The C-130 made it back, the F-35 didn’t, but apparently no casualties

KC-130 landed off airport gear-up... and there are several long runways in that immediate area

Looks like he had one engine turning. I think I'll cut him slack and by him a beer.

For sure, I wasn't criticizing just pointing out that it must have been pretty bad if they couldn't make it to pavement out there.

An pretty good overview of the mishap with what little information is out there right now and some interesting video and pictures of the KC-130J.

Yes - BZ to the Herc crew for getting it down safely.

Gotta love the Herc. No gear ..... no problem.

No runway, no problem either, as long as it’s sort of flat and reasonably clear. But it really prefers more than two engines to be working...

Looks like they landed in rows of plowed fields which may be why they didn’t lower the gear.

Word is that a WTI Instructor in the F35. If so, bad trend- It was a WTI flying a non standard maneuver kicked off events for the mid air between the Hornet and the Herk in Japan that got the Herk crew killed.
