Quote: I flew on a mesa flight today...I talked to the captain and he said he was a IOE Captain an he said CRJ is understaffed and is confused why they haven’t called people back. What everyone’s though on this!?!

We are not over staffed. He’s an idiot or was messing with you. 1/3 of the crj pilots are on reserve. The only reason they are being used is people being taken offline for Covid exposure.

As reserves are used yes it’s goes below. But from the 12th on its green. The drop to red a day or two before is normal. We are far from under staffed.

Clown no. Realist yes. Look at the numbers. In all carriers. Vaccines as well. Reality is no one knows what going on right now till tomorrow morning in what will happen. But it is nice to hear diff views and thought. Example what that capt told me yesterday, a FO that’s in ERJ transition right now said one thing a few weeks ago and another now.

Skywest out of no where started classes.

Damn near every pilot at RPA that I kno has said word is March but no one knows anything beyond that.

Mesa cadet recruiter asking us when we would be ready for class.

So no one knows wtf is going to happen. Yes I’m trying to be positive and easier but also have to be real and patient and kno it will happen eventually.

I do not understand your optimism for regionals to bring in new hires in the next year. I truly don’t.

He’s a cadet that is just really wanting to get started flying jets and hopefully advancing his career. The legacies will be smaller for a while and fat on pilots so there will be no hiring on that end of the stick. With no need to hire at the legacies, and very few other companies needing pilots, the regionals will be fat on pilots for a while too since scope will require them to be smaller as well. The suck isn’t going to be over for a while longer.

We aren’t even close to being out of this downturn with most of us still facing possible furlough in the future, but supposedly someone’s cousins brothers wife who knows the janitor at the training center says the regionals are going to be hiring again...
