I’ve been pleasantly surprised but it was the COMPANY that says furloughs are coming.

Reality is the government is RIGHTLY propping us up. But we have contracts. We have a certain number of airplanes. We have TOO MUCH STAFF. Once the govt support ends, without concessions, there will be furloughs.

That said - if we do find more flying I’ll be wrong and happy for be wrong. But if we lose the 20 planes AA can pull we will certainly furlough. We are far from out of the woods.

I don’t know what it’s like on the captain side, but on the FO side the green dwindles pretty quick. All reserves are getting used, a lot. Not sure why if we’re as overstaffed as people say we are. Why would a company who’s overstaffed only have 1 reserve available on a particular day?

Also should add that my understanding is we are no longer dual seat qualified. Would add more cost to any downgrades if that ever were to happen.

what I’ve been hearing. Did CATII (both missed and with a left seat landing) from the right seat but that’s it.

That was a few weeks ago, but that’s what I remember. Heard from a few other CA’s also that we are no longer dual seat qualified.

We are still right seat qualified. We cannot fly ca on ca any longer. However if downgraded there’s still no training event.

This is normal. I am sorry this is too hard to grasp. And we are using reserves but we are not short. I’ve had days when I wasn’t in the pool because of an assignment on a prior day but not used the next day. The reserves we are using are mostly for Covid exposure. Once that slows we are very over staffed.

Why they’re getting used is not something we actually know. Crew scheduling can’t give that info. But, a couple times already this month, I’ve done a couple flights the according to crew scheduling were added flights. But at the end of the day if we have few or no guys available then we’re short regardless of the reason. If it’s COVID related, then I suspect the exposure call outs will run parallel with the infection rates in the US. Meaning with less call outs for COVID comes more passenger traffic as a result, which is what I’m guessing they’re planning for. Rant aside, I’ve flown more this month than I did my first month out of IOE, however you wanna bill that.
