Quote: To be fair, cases are still nearly twice as high as they were after the first November surge, and 10 times higher than the Memorial Day surge that prompted a lot of closings of indoor dining and such. A downward trajectory is great, especially if the variants don’t reverse it, but we have a way to go to drive those numbers down to Australia type numbers.
BAD EXAMPLE^^^

Australia and New Zealand are ‘down under.’ It is summer there. This graph shows their normal flu season which is very different than ours:

COVID is a NOVEL Coronavirus and we have no good idea what it’s seasonal variability might be, but most respiratory viruses have one. Comparing our midwinter numbers to their midsummer numbers might very well be just as inappropriate as comparing our flu season to their flu season. They peak at very different times.
Quote: Might be the seasonal nature of the virus, might be the 47 million who have had at least one shot, might be the almost 30 million who had COVID and are now - for awhile at least) relatively immune. Might be the restrictions, but truthfully states without restrictions don’t appear to be doing a helluva lot better than those with them. Might be just dumb luck. Whatever the case, the numbers are dropping.

Is this what they meant when they said "It wILL gO aWAY oN NoVEmBEr 4Th"?

Is there a reason for capital letters all willy-nilly or are you just bad at English?

Anyone who said November 4th was mistaken. The election cycle ended on Jan 20th. Miraculously just after this date the cycle rates on tests were determined to be too high, a case ceased to be just a test but also had to be combined with symptoms, and max lock down governors across the fruited plain suddenly pivoted to saying that we must open up to save the economy. So yea it was political.
