Quote: We are here to make money for the shareholders, not to provide some public service or care for employees. We are all just cost on a spreadsheet. The argument that comes into play is how to best maximize shareholder wealth. If abusing the workers does that, then that is the path that they’ll follow. If spending additional money on work force QOL will generate even more money, then that is where they will go. We only get what we’re able to negotiate, nothing more, nothing less, and we never will.
Understood. But resigning to "what's best for the whole" as a pilot group and encouraging the regional model to continue to propagate itself with relaxed scope isn't doing the labor force any good. I understand that perspective isn't great for shareholders, but the large companies that bought back shares and didn't prepare for 6 months of downturn like a normal citizen is supposed to (while having t more rights than a citizen) doesn't make the argument for maintaining the whipsaw.

Please explain your comment about it not doing the labor force any good.

Quote: Yes, I fly for United, but who we work for doesn’t impact discussions on what a company is doing or where the industry seems to be heading. It only affects our approval or disapproval of those decisions.
If I remember correctly you worked for Air Wisconsin for over 10 years?

Nope. Never flew for a regional, but I did work for some charter and freight outfits that make you glad to have that behind you. Pre 117 reserve rules being on call 24 hrs a day for 6 straight days, no work rules, horrible maintenance,……. good times.
