Quote: This is a case study in why our contracts will always lag. Between this and Flyguy81's last post, it's got a little bit of nearly every form of rationalization for why we vote in lagging contract after lagging contract. I think he forgot to mention the idea of the squozen balloon, but aside from that, he laid it all out pretty well. And he wraps it all up in a bow with the perennial classic, "If you don't like it here, leave!"

Yeah, I don’t understand people who use such sh1tty justifications.

It’s career earning potential…… anything less is an excuse

But wait....

We haven't even gotten to barcoloungers yet

Bidding straight is MY contractual right!

Simple test - how many Southwest pilots left Southwest to start over on the bottom at any of those 3 airlines and how many pilots left those airlines to start on the bottom here? How many Southwest pilots have active applications at those 3 airlines, and how many pilots at those 3 airlines have active applications with us? Conversely, even though we have more people leaving Southwest to go to the big 3 legacies, for whatever reason, we also have some movement of people leaving those legacies to come here. How many people leave the legacies in their first few years to go start over at ULCC's? How many captains at ULCC's leave to start over at the big 3 legacies? Now, how many Southwest captains are leaving to start at the bottom at the Big 3 or ULLC's?
My point was that the business plan of the LCC’s are very nearly identical. I’d say B6 and AK’s are better….the product is certainly nicer than anything we offer.

carry on, miserable wretch. People like you love to throw out that FedEx has a 6 mo wait to be awarded CA and that they’re so fantastic with their A plan and WB rates and chocolate cake…and then ***** that you’re stuck here. You’re not. You can leave at any time. If you think people that are happy here are all losers who will vote for crap and you’ll never get what you want….then you’re setting yourself up to be a grumpy ass old man.

I’ve only been here for 1 contract cycle. I’d have voted no on TA1 had I been here in time to make the vote. So you’re full of **** thinking I or anyone else like me doesn’t know their worth.

When Casey, Hank and the others on the NC say there’s no more juice left to squeeze and any further delay would be cost negative…I believe them. #SS4M and all that.

I think you are mistaken in many aspects.

I doubt Casey and this iteration of SWAPA will ask us to settle for anything less than industry standard career earning potential. You appear ready to quit early and settle for less, but I’m hopeful you won’t get the chance to.

It is also possible to be happy with the job, the people, the balance sheet, etc…..yet demand that the most productive pilot group be compensated accordingly. You should consider trying that.

Unless the SWA philosophy changes drastically under Bob Jordan, you can rest assured we are still years away from a ratifiable offer from the company.

Which is exactly why I cringe at the "if you don't like it leave" crowd. Fight for it! If everyone who b*tched left you would likely never see another improvement again.

With all that said this is going to be a long slog. SWAPA wants a full rewrite and CK wants to go section by section of the current contract "because they're comfortable".

Why would it? Bob Jordan is old hat SWA. It’s gonna be the same old same old.

Hank, Jody and Casey told me to my face at the Denver road show that TA2 was the best we could do when I asked why they fell short of the platform. I believed them.

The market in 2022 is vastly different than 2016. Hell, they’re paying us premium just to show up and work our original line.

I spent 8 years fighting a corrupt management for a new CBa as a Regional pilot who never grossed more than $100k a year. I’ve no problem voting no to anything that doesn’t meet or exceed what the market says we are worth. I’ll picket if necessary. I’ll strike if allowed by the RLA (won’t ever happen but I’m ready.).

I’ve got 25 more years here if I choose and want this place to succeed. There’s nowhere else I’d rather work. I’ve flown with many angry, bitter people who I’d rather see leave if they’re not happy. I’ve got friends at AA….I don’t want our pilot group turning into that.
