I agree, please take the survey and be honest.

It is your contract. Pass the IQ test.

Quote: Let’s get into the 21st century and start web conferencing these meetings if they want to see more participation. Unless I happen to be in Memphis, I won’t be attending any MEC meetings any time soon.
Your attitude is EXACTLY the problem here at FedEx. Had your pathetic self attended, you'd know the challenges and why we don't have "electronic meetings". The union is working on this as there was a motion made at the last MEC meeting by a really cool 777 dude. It isn't as simple as let's all zoom in. If you don't think the company wouldn't hack or have their people vote when there are motions etc.etc., you're lying to yourself. Being proud that you couldn't get your pathetic self to participate in ONE meeting -- perhaps one of the most important meetings -- is telling. And it reflects among others in the crew force. You are going to get the contract you deserve.

If I were the MEC Chairman, and if it were allowed in the by-laws, I'd make these meetings mandatory or you get fined or put on probation with the union. And if you don't live up to our code of ethics, I would boot you from the union.

Quote: The NC chair also did a good job of explaining the process. I wish more would have seen his presentation.

It was very sad to see the MEC Chair never get up on stage and talk to the pilots. I think it was the first joint council meeting ever where the Chair did not lead. I hope that is not a harbinger of things to come.

No one else will do the work for your contract. And every contract is an IQ test. If you fail to show up for the test, you will fail, and it will be your fault.
Exactly. We are supposed to be a UNION ... unfortunately people are whining and complaining yet they're not UNIFYING for the contractual fight of their lives. THIS IS THE TIME PEOPLE!

I agree with your sentiments regarding the MEC Chair. I've not met him, didn't even know who he was.

FXLax, most of the NC's comments are available here ... for your lazy self to watch

Did all that name calling make you feel better? Now that we are done with childish behavior, I’ll try to have an adult conversation.

I know that there were motions made for this before I commented here. I know they are up to the executive council level, not just as this meeting. I know the entire board of directors’ meeting was conducted via web conferencing, including voting. So to me, all that just seems like an excuse. Which is why I posted about it. The more we know about this issue, the more fire we put on the reps ass about it. I’ve personally talked to my rep about it. More of us have to do the same. Hopefully this helps. If only one pilot lets his rep know, then my whining on it here has been worth it.

Well then, you truly are exactly what I said you are. You *knew* and were informed about the issue but still decided to throw stones anyways. Awesome. So you do understand there are challenges with having these electronic meetings open to the entire crew force and the legal issues with that. AND you also know that the MEC supports it which is why the motion is up at National. Yeah.

Regardless, ONE day bro. ONE day out our your life that they ask you to attend and you failed to show up.

Question, when the union asks you to picket, will you complain that you can't do it virtually? Or will you be a man and join your fellow union members and show up in person?

You keep wanting to make this personal while I try to have an adult conversation. So I’ll try one more time with you. I hope that you can finally get over it and just be less childish.

The board of directors successfully conducted a virtual meeting over a course of almost a week with debate and votes despite the supposed issues and not having the authority in the administrative manual to do it. My issue is that it’s been proven to work yet despite those supposed hurdles and yet they can’t even stream a video where no actual union business is conducted. Now they want to go back and pass resolutions and debate it after the fact that covid basically forced them to acknowledge it can be done. And again, here I’m specifically complaining about just streaming a speech where no union work is actually done. Anyway, like I said, I’ve specifically have had a conversation about this very issue with my rep. He knows where I stand and hopefully this conversation, such as it is, may spur others to do the same.

Ok ... if you're spoken to your rep, what did they tell you as to why we can't have electronic meetings?

And I am curious, the previous MEC Chairman and MEC held several virtual/zoom updates/Q&As... I'm not exactly sure what they called them. Did you virtually attend those?

Thanks for calling a spade a spade. These constant complainers and whiners are indicative of the portion of the pilot group selling them selves on the street corner to the company. They always have an excuse. I would also be in support of union levied fines or expulsion for certain behaviors. You work against the collective then you get punished.

Same issues you mentioned. But didn’t have anything of substance about how then they were able to conduct real business (debates, motions, resolutions, votes, etc) during the BOD meeting. That’s what I’m referring to, not the updates and pubs they conduct, which I’m appreciative of and participated in, including asking questions, every time I was not working.

I’d like to be able to watch a live stream of the LC and MEC conducting their meetings so that when I’m on a layover, like I was for this last meeting, I can tune in. I don’t think it’s too much to ask for in today’s age, especially since this has been a subject that the executive council has had on its lap for years.
