No I'd rather live in my base drive to work do my trip then go home. I'd rather not spend time trying to bid commutable trips. Lastly money simply isn't everyone's prime motivator. I value my time much more highly than a few extra thousand dollars.

So no I'm not getting with the program. You ought to realize you're not everyone hell you might not even be the majority even if you think you are.

I would rather get paid to be at home if I could hold it seniority-wise, and if I can't hold it, I'd rather get paid for a DDH that I could deviate on. Instead we have more bases and less deadheads.

Whatever way you slice it, if we went back to just once base, we'd all be getting paid more for less work, and most of us would have more paid time at home.

It honestly sounds like Allegiant is the place for you though. You should send them an application.

LAX Base Lifespan?
I think it’s safe to say that there is merit in both. It just depends on each pilot’s specific preferences and probably their specific home life situation. In any case I doubt Memphis well ever cease to be a fortress base even if they do open up another base or two.

Another example of no matter how the system is built someone will be unhappy. Someone will want it changed for their specific situation.

Honestly sounds like you're the one who is unhappy. So much so that you'd deny others an opportunity to have what they desire because you want something different.

I'll leave you to go on mewing and caterwauling about matters over which you have no say. Honestly it's a good look.

Maybe some of us would want to just bid reserve and try the “not getting called for work” game, AND not live in that boring place called Memphis.

if you like DH’s so much, it honestly sounds like Kalitta Air is the place for you with their homebasing. You should send them an application.

so what happens when you can't hold AUS and you're stuck commuting to GTF or ATW for 20 years while you're waiting for the guy who holds AUS to retire?

That game has been dead for years. That’s why reserve goes junior.

Choices have consequences. You make the choices not anyone else.

That may depend from bases to base and or fleet.

This was my point. I can’t hold LAX when Memphis based. But I could hold it in OAK anytime I want.
